Daremate

Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 15, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Armen Arshakyan IE, doing business as Daremate (“we,” “us,” “our”), handles information when you use the Daremate mobile app.

Questions? Email us at hello@daremate.app.

1. WHAT WE COLLECT

We collect minimal data:

  • Anonymous device ID: A randomly generated identifier stored on your device. It is not linked to your name or any other identifying information. When you use support features, your anonymous device ID may be stored in our database to apply any support entitlements (such as bonus spins or premium access) granted to your account. It remains anonymous and is not linked to your name or contact details.
  • Usage data:How you use the app (which features you use, how often). Collected via PostHog analytics. Analytics data includes dare category, tier, and dare identifiers to help us understand feature usage. Intimacy-category activity is treated the same as all other categories — only the category name and dare identifier are recorded, never the dare text or any personal content.
  • Approximate location: Inferred from your IP address by PostHog. We do not access your precise GPS location.
  • Device info: Device type and operating system, collected automatically by PostHog.
  • Subscription status: Whether you are a free or premium user, managed via RevenueCat.
  • Support communications: If you email us at hello@daremate.app, we receive what you share.

We do not collect your name, email address, or phone number. Partner first names you enter are stored locally on your device only and are never transmitted to us.

The app also stores some data locally on your device only (such as partner first names, completed dare history, personal notes, custom dares you write, and Decide tab data, including movie and restaurant lists, current picks, watched-movie history, and leader selections). The content of these local entries never leaves your device and is not sent to our servers. We may collect anonymous events indicating that a Decide feature was used, but these events do not include partner names, notes, custom dare text, movie titles, or restaurant names.

2. HOW WE USE IT

We use this information to:

  • Operate the app and deliver its features
  • Manage your subscription
  • Understand how the app is used so we can improve it
  • Respond to support requests

3. WHO WE SHARE IT WITH

We do not sell your data. We share data only with the following service providers:

All providers are bound by data processing agreements.

We offer an optional feedback form via Google Forms. Responses are collected by Google and subject to Google's Privacy Policy. Participation is entirely voluntary.

4. HOW LONG WE KEEP IT

We retain your data for as long as the app is installed on your device, or for up to 1 year for analytics and support data. When you uninstall the app, all locally stored data is deleted from your device.

5. YOUR RIGHTS

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@daremate.app. We will respond within 30 days.

You can also delete your locally stored data at any time using the Fresh Start feature in the app's Settings. Note: some usage counters (such as weekly spin usage) are not cleared by Fresh Start and will reset automatically on Monday.

EU/UK users: You have additional rights under the GDPR, including the right to data portability and the right to object to processing.

California users: You have rights under the CCPA, including the right to know what data we collect and the right to request deletion. We do not sell personal information.

6. INTERNATIONAL TRANSFERS

Your data may be processed in the United States (Vercel, RevenueCat, Neon) and the European Union (PostHog). We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, including Standard Contractual Clauses where required.

7. SECURITY

We implement appropriate technical measures to protect your data. However, no system is 100% secure. In the event of a breach affecting your rights, we will notify relevant authorities within 72 hours as required by law.

8. CHILDREN

Daremate is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

9. UPDATES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified within the app. The “Last updated” date at the top will always reflect the most recent version.
